My experience in working with Doug Patton of Simply Fit has been really outstanding. Doug has been working with me for almost 8 years now and the benefits to my health and stamina have been wonderful. There have been years when I was able to get to the gym 5 days a week, and other years when I have hardly been able to keep any consistent time. Sometimes this has been because of an injury or temporary illness, and sometimes just procrastination. Through it all, Doug has been patient and persistent in keeping me on track and has adjusted my regimen over time according to what I can handle, as well as pushing me to exceed my capacities. I am now 68 years old and the result of this time working with Doug is that I feel as good (and weigh the same) as I did at age 50. I would enthusiastically encourage anyone I know to consider working with Doug to improve their health, strength and stamina. He is a consummate professional and knows how to implement a plan appropriate for one’s ability. I would never consider working out without a trainer, and plan on working with Doug for many years to come.
Just want to thank Doug Patton for years of great training. I met Doug when Anytime Fitness first opened on 4th street and definitely not in my best shape. In a short time, he evaluated my needs and strengths and I was quickly on my way to being in my best shape. Through the years he has met all my challenges including my diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and has adjusted my workouts to fit my life. It’s been a few years now, but Doug keeps my workouts interesting and fresh.
Over the years we have developed a friendship and I am honored to call Doug a good friend. He is dedicated, loyal to his workouts, his clients and has an outstanding work ethic. So, thank you Doug, I feel great and I owe that to you.
I have been working out with Doug for 8 months now, and I can honestly say that I see a huge difference in the way I look and more importantly, feel. I’m in my mid-thirties, and my body is not springing back into shape like it used to, so I decided to get off my derriere and do something about it, and I’m super glad that I did. Doug is an amazing trainer, and I can’t say enough fantastic things about him. He can motivate me when I’m feeling lazy and I can always count on him to push me further than I ever thought I could go before, while making sure that I am exercising safely, and I know my limits. When I’m working out with Doug, I’m having fun because he is super creative with his workouts; In 8 months I don’t think I’ve had the same workout twice! Working out with Doug has increased my energy, metabolism, and definitely my confidence.

Doug first walked into the doors of North Shore Gym in Lakewood, Ohio at the age of 18 with a passion in his heart to be a bodybuilder. Even at that age, he already had the physique of a lifter. Within days, it was known that K.I.S.S. was his favorite workout music, along with Guns & Roses, and of course, Hells Bells by AC/DC. Gary & I took an instant liking to Doug, and he became one of our Staff at North Shore. He worked his way up from cleaning the equipment to becoming a trainer. This was what used to be called a “Hard Core Gym”, and the atmosphere was always charged. Doug has a way with people, he could relate to anyone, and their goals. He became a leader, with many fellow members wanting to be his work out partner. Always trustworthy, always dedicated, always considerate, always psyched for the burn, Doug was/is a true hardcore lifter. We are so very proud of him, and so grateful that we’re still in touch all these years later. This world needs more Doug Pattons, he is making the world a better place, one rep at a time!
I’ve been training with Doug for a couple of decades now! He has a lot of experience and can create a work out plan for your personal needs. And he covers the three major areas a person needs to balance for a healthy life style…fitness, diet and strong social ties. On the fitness front, I really needed help building strength. Doug worked with me to understand the different weights and machines and how to use them to improve strength and balance. He pushes me, but knows I have limits and takes them into account without making me feel limited! With diet, he is knowledgeable about changes you to need to make to achieve your goals. This includes everything from eating clean to creating protein shakes that taste good and supplement meals. And training sessions can be like visits with a friend. Doug does an excellent job getting to know his clients personally, and what is important to them. Over the years there are times we’ve shared the joys of life, the loss of loved ones and everything in between. He boosts your confidence and always makes you feel stronger and lighter when you leave than when your arrived! I appreciate all the time and energy Doug has put into our training sessions. My Testimony for Douglas Patton, Certified Personal Trainer
I have been working with Doug since last June 2017. Prior to that time, I worked with another trainer, at a different gym for 9 years, twice a week. During that 9 years, I learned a group of exercises, using a handful of available equipment, and never anything more. I did reach a couple of important goals with him, but I never gained any additional strength or knowledge as to how to workout on my own, on other days of the week. I finally got smart and left that trainer and moved to Anytime Fitness on 4th Street. I worked out for a year, by myself doing the same routine each time I went to the gym. Needless to say, it became boring and posed a threat in that I was not wanting to go to the gym. THAT, could be a big problem for me!
I am a 70 year old woman, with Degenerative Joint Disease (Arthritis) which affects my back and shoulders badly! I also live with a severe curvature in my back, known as scoliosis, which can be very painful, especially if I do not remain strong and mobile.
When we moved to the Gandy location, I began taking notice of Doug working with groups of people at once, but seemingly very much aware of what each was doing and that each were performing in a safe manner.
I spoke with Doug and told him what needed most was to increase the variation in my workouts. I told him of my physical issues and he clearly listened because he was unafraid to have me try new things to understand what worked for me and what didn’t! I learned I was capable of doing things which would increase my strength and decrease my discomfort because Doug was willing to try new things with me; which my other trainer of 9 years was not.
One more point about Doug, before I finish. We, Doug’s clients, are treated like family; he loves us, and we love him! You can tell always, which are Doug’s clients when you come to the gym; we are the ones with smiles on our faces! How great is that!

I have been training with Doug a little under a month, but I have already lost pounds and inches. I had been thinking of getting back into bodybuilding for some time and Doug came along at just the right time. In the short time we have been lifting, I have lost weight and inches. But he is more than just a trainer, who strives to help all his clients as a coach. He is a wealth of knowledge and has helped to get me back on track in all aspects of life…. Physically and mentally. Going to the gym used to be just another errand I had to do on any given day and I fell off track. I absolutely love working out with Doug. Any time I am lucky enough to spend time with my uncle he takes time to train with me. He is so much fun to work with and he really knows what he is talking about. He works with my specific needs and even gives me advice on what I should be eating and when. I wish I could train with Doug everyday but because of the distance I am not able to frequently see him. I’m not sure why I stopped at Anytime Fitness one day in November 2016. I had already lost over 60 pounds having Lap band surgery, but I still had limited strength and plenty of “flab” remaining. I never had the opportunity to belong to a gym while I was working but now that I was retired, why not? With my paperwork filled out, I was introduced to Doug Patton who offered me three free sessions of training. I was hooked!
I learned about that strange gym equipment which I had no idea of what they were for and how they worked. Doug was quickly able to sum up my short comings and abilities (which were slim to none). He made me feel comfortable and had the patience to joke with me when I made all my mistakes. Oh yes, I was always doing things either backwards or too fast. His favorite saying was “You can only do what your body says you can do!”
I am glad I joined Anytime Fitness and had Doug Patton for my trainer. I did lose inches and gain strength and Doug has helped me get more mobility in my fused ankle.

I have been training with Doug now for almost 6 months, and I’m very impressed by his passion to help clients, his knowledge and his ability to connect with his clients. I have used personal trainers on and off for the last 7 years and I can honestly say that Doug is the first one who actually listened to what my goals and objectives were and set out a plan for me to achieve them. I also have some limitations due to previous injuries with my shoulder and rotator cuff, and he always able to show me an alternative exercise in order to achieve the same results while not putting undue stress on my shoulder. He is helping me with my nutrition which is helping me lose some of the weight I had put on. Doug always makes the workouts challenging, but he also makes them fun, and I’m always motivated to come to the gym for the sessions. I’m looking forward to continuing achieving my goals with Doug’s training and guidance.
Four and a half years ago I joined Anytime Fitness. There I met my trainer Doug Patton. I was very out of shape. I couldn’t even stay on the Tread mill for more than 5 minutes. With Doug’s help I have come along way. He is very good at what he does. Like he puts it “We are All Family”.
That’s how he thinks of his clients. He has made a great difference in my health and strength. I hope to be able to work with him for many more years.
6 months ago, I decided to get back into the gym. I was out of shape and needed a little motivation to keep going. I watched Doug Patton interact with his clients and he made it look like so much fun to work out. He is Dedicated, Compassionate and treats us as we are family members. I have only the greatest admiration for him and the work that he does. I’ve seen first-hand the successes that he has had with clients. Now I not only like to work out, I look forward to seeing what training he has planned for me on any given day. I have gained strength and mobility and feel much better in all aspects of my training. He asks questions and listens to what you want to achieve. He is tuff and pushes you to the best of your capabilities, but also knows your threshold to what your body can handle.
